Aeroprobe builds high-speed wind tunnel

January 15, 2011 - To address increasing calibration demands, Aeroprobe has successfully constructed a high-speed wind tunnel housed in additional facilities in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Capable of producing flow speeds up to Mach 1, the tunnel sets a new standard for high quality flow with minimized turbulence. Operating enhancements include digital speed control and remote operation capability for continuous use.  Flow and position motors are monitored via network access.  With these investments, the tunnel has run almost 24 hours a day since it came on line three months ago.

"Our growth has provided us the capability to invest in our own infrastructure and eliminate the dependence on third parties for high-speed calibrations," said Aeroprobe President Kevin Creehan. “Our design was so successful, we have already begun construction on an additional tunnel capable of producing even higher speeds. At that time, we will have three wind tunnels in-house.”
