Automotive

Fluid flow applications in automotive engineering pose special problems. Most of the flows found in or around an automobile involve areas of forward or reversing flow. Probes are necessary in these situations that can detect the direction of the velocity vectors even if the incidence angle to the probe is as far as 180 degrees from its design axis. Aeroprobe’s omni probe is perfectly suited for such applications. Typical cases are for example the flow in the wake of an automobile, the flow under the hood and around the engine or the flow around a rotating wheel. Some of the cases listed below represent these flow situations.

In other cases internal flows must be studied. But most challenging are the cases that involve dynamically changing flow fields. In such cases, other methods like hot-wire anemometry or laser-Doppler velocimetry may appear useful. But the use of such methods is challenging, and requires special training. Aeroprobe's fast-response probe offers an affordable, reliable tool that is relatively easy to use.

Aeroprobe products have been used by companies including Honda, Hyundai, BMW, Volvo, Ferrari, John Deere, and others. Examples of such use can be found by clicking on the icons to the right.
